Stallion habit number 23 - Floss your teeth to live 7 years longer

On http://www.realage.com/ you can take a test to see what your real age is.

At the end of the questionaire, it then gives you tips for what habits you can do to live longer.

I was surprised to find out that one of them was to floss your teeth daily, which could help you live up to 7 years longer.

Flossing your teeth will help your immune system be stronger, which fights disease.

I am glad they came out with the new reach floss picks. I never had much luck with a long strand of floss that I wrapped around my fingers. So live longer. Floss your teeth.

Stallion habit number 22 - Get a free hobby

Most hobbies require a little bit of expense up front, but there are many that are free that can help you stay active.

Tennis, disc golf, basketball, and many other sports activities require an initial investment, and thenthey are pretty much free after that.

My wife and kids spend hours doing activities that basically cost nothing.

I have heard the statement more than once, that the best things in life are free.

Libraries are another example of a free activity.

Stallion habit number 21 - Be active

Kids nowadays seem to sit around the Nintendo, tv, or computer all day long. It sure seems like this rising generation is the generation of inactivity.

This has caused one of the fattest generation of kids I have ever seen.

My kids are just like everyone else's in the sense that they love to sit and watch or play.

One day I was watching TV, and the commercial said that parents need to encourage their kids to get out and play.

This year I have tried to get outside with them and do as many active, fun things as we can.

So if you sit all day at a job, on your breaks or after work, you need to be active.

I will be the first to admit that sugar is my weakness. It seems like if you start eating sugar, you crave more of it. No one can eat just one sweet--so to speak.

I am better off not eating any at all because it is a trigger food for me.
I admire people who say that sugary foods aren't even a temptation.

Britney Spears has recently gotten attention for losing a lot of weight. She was asked, how she did it? She said she cut the sugar out of her diet.

Eating sugar creates an insulin response. By eating sugar, you are telling your body to store fat.

So if you want to to cut the fat, cut the sugar.

I love bill pay through my bank. I can pay all my bills in one minute or less and not have to buy a single stamp or envelope.

I do a lot of rent-to-owns. Every day I get several phone calls about someone who needs time to fix their credit.

Knowing what you can do financially might be more important than your high school diploma.
One day I asked my banker how much money I could borrow. I was surprised when he said "a million dollars" if I wanted to.

A poor person will work all his life and have a million dollars pass through his hands and have nothing to show for it.

A rich person will borrow money and invest it in income-producing assets.

A recession is always a good reminder why watching what you spend is a good idea.
When times are good, we tend to buy whatever, with no thought at all how we are going to pay for it.

This year I have noticed for the first time in my life financial times getting so tough that some people in SE Idaho can't even afford a car, let alone gas to fill it.

So as the saying goes "Make it do, wear it out, use it up, or go without."

Going to bed early never sounds fun when you're a kid. If you're a parent, getting your kids to bed can be a parenting miracle.

I have never had a problem getting up or going to bed. I have not set my alarm for years.

One thing I have noticed though is that if I wake up early, I can do about 10 things that would have taken me all day to accomplish, since it is about the only quiet time I ever have.

Stallion habit number 13 - Break a bad habit

Breaking bad habits can be hard to do.



One way to overcome a bad habit is to immediately correct something after you do it, and pause for a second.


For example---shooting a basketball with improper technique. I know a kid who always has his hand go off to the left when it needs to go towards the basket.



How you break this habit is---after your hand goes off to the left, immediately move it to the center where it should be and hold it for a second.



If you do this every time you screw up with whatever habit you are trying to break, eventually you should be able to do it the right way, and not have to think about it.

Then show your journal to someone who is concerned about your health.

What is a wealth cycle?

Everyone knows the poverty cycle--which is living from paycheck to paycheck.



Also, many people rob Peter to pay Paul.



A weath cycle is when you use your income to buy assets, and then your assets continue to buy more assets. An asset is something that pays you income every month.


And like Rich Dad says, a home really isn't an asset because it doesn't pay you, but you've got to live somewhere. . . . . . . . . .so you can still buy one from me.

Stallion habit number 6 - Eat to live don't live to eat.


One of my classmates has an incredibly lean, muscular and healthy body.
One day I asked her what she did. She told me that she eats to live; not lives to eat.
We should eat if we are hungry, but eat smaller portions throughout the day. If you can't eat healthy every time, focus on eating healthy 80 to 90% of the time.

Think of it like school. If you eat right 90% of the time, you will get an A. No one wants an F. How you look is a choice.

Stallion habit number 5 - Listen to your body





Do you ever listen to your body?

What is it telling you?

Do you ever go to buffets, for example, just to pig out?

You know you are in pain, but you keep on eating. Then you spend the rest of the day lying around because you ate too much.
How about listening to your body?
Are you full? Are you in pain?
What do you need to do to reverse that?

Could you overcome over-eating if you had to?

So you don't have time to study? How about putting your favorite reading material right in the bathroom, or by the bath tub?

You can read a chapter a day in minutes.

How about putting it in your vehicle, or reading it while you are waiting for whatever?

It seems like there are always minutes every day that can be used better.

Stallion habit number 3 - The mini workout

So you don't have time to workout? Actually, you do!

One thing I have done is to have weights by my desk. You can take a quick break several times per day, and do 8 to 12 reps in 30 seconds or less.
What about a minute of jump rope?

On your 15 minute break, you can take your snack with you and walk for 15 minutes.

In the morning while you are getting dressed, you can do some pushups, etc.

Before you go to bed, do a quick set of situps.

If you do mini workouts throughout the day, by the end of the day you will have worked out, and you will fill refreshed with your little mini breaks.

Stallion habit number 2 - Get rid of food sins

What is a food sin? A food sin is anything about food consumption that you know is unhealthy. Such as: overeating, eating junk, drinking junk, drugging, drinking, smoking, chips, cookies, dessert etc.
I think you get the idea.

What is your weakness? Do you eat the whole bag of chips? Can you cut your consumption in half or even eliminate it? My weakness is cookies. If you can't totally give it up, cut down how much you eat.

Of course the way to repent of food sins is exercise. You should get back on a healthy eating plan your very next meal.

Stallion habit number 1- Drink cold Water

Ice or chilled water is my favorite drink.

Drinking calories is a great way to pack on weight fast. Having that sugary taste in your mouth just makes you even thirstier and makes you want to eat something else.

Everytime you want something to eat, you might just get a drink of water and then ask yourself, am I really hungry or just bored? Listen to your body.

Stop drinking artificial colors, caffeine, flavors, and who knows what other crap they put in soft drinks.

You will notice more energy. Water is the real energy drink. Energy drinks make you hungry, shakey, and do impulsive things.

Drinking ice water will help you save money, along with improving your health.
