Stallion habit 92 - Learn to dance

Watching Brooke Burke win dancing with the stars was a great thing.

This program has made dancing incredible popular right now.

Also, Wii fit offers a dance program that can get you in shape quickly. It helps you with foot work and timing.

When I was in college, I took a social dance class. I learned how to do several dances. The one that I remember doing was the country swing.

Although country music isn't my first choice, I actually met my wife at a country dance. Because I had taken the class and knew how to do the country swing, I was able to develop a relationship with her that led to marriage.

In Idaho, there are lots of places you can dance if you would like to buy a home and move to the Idaho Falls area.

I look forward to helping you with all your real estate needs.

Stallion habit 91- Learn to dutch oven cook

One of the great things to do in SE Idaho is dutch oven cook.

There are quite a few classes offered locally how to do this skill.

You can cook with charcoals, a fire, or propane.

I have a leg less dutch oven that we occasionally just use the oven.

Nothing is better than dutch oven chicken, potatoes with cheese, and peach cobbler.

It takes a little while longer to cook it, but it sure is worth it.

Recently our scout group had a dutch oven cook off. Everything turned out great and the kids ate everything until it was gone.

So if you are going to move to the Idaho Falls Idaho Real Estate market, dutch oven cooking is a great skill to have since there are a thousand places to camp.

I look forward to working with you.

Stallion habit 90 - Keep your meals under 400 calories

One of the key tips in the abs diet is to keep your meals under 400 calories. That really makes sense if you are trying to eat 6 meals a day at 400 calories a pop.

I have read where your body can really only have 400 calories available without turning in extra into fat.

I guess the theory is that if you don't have more than 400 calories in any one meal that you won't store fat.

So you kind of keep your body not stuffed, but have food in you to keep you from being hungry. Your body should burn off what you have eaten.

Of course choice of foods are important also. The Europeans eat whatever they want, but most of them just try a taste of this or that.

We here in America have the super size option with every meal and it really shows. There are over weight people every where.

I like to eat a big meal every now and then, but for the most part, your mini meals should be under 400 calories.

Stallion habit 89 -Stand for something good

One of the better books I have read talks about 10 virtues that would change our families, homes, and nation if we would just do them.

This book is written for everyone and wasn't necessarily addressing a singular religion or belief system.

The 10 virtues that Gordan B. Hinckley writes on are love, honesty, morality, civility, learning, forgiveness and mercy, thrift, gratitude, optimism, and faith.

I think all human beings experience all of these emotions and would be better off if they would magnify them. This is a good book to order no matter what you believe in.

Stallion habit 88 - Get involved with the youth in your community

I am involved in coaching Freshman Basketball this year at Bonneville High School.

My oldest kid is that age, and so it is easy for me to get involved.

We are winning some games, and I teach them what I know about basketball.

I also am involved in scouting and currently have 3 kids participating.

My oldest son is an Eagle Scout, and my other two kids aren't too far behind him. I take a group of youth to scout camp every year at Island park.

I have been trying to help as many of the kids I work with to be the best they can be. I have learned that you can do your best, but if the kids progress in scouting, it really depends on them.

I think everyone can be a positive influence on the youth in their community.

Stallion habit 87 - Buy a WII

Usually I would say video games are generally a waste of time, but I really like the Wii because it makes my family active.

It is a great way to exercise and interact with your kids.

It is fun enough, you can make them do their chores before they hop on the Wii.

Idaho winters are cold, and it is hard to stay active sometimes. I highly recommend you get a Wii for your home and stay active when it is cold.

My brother has lost a ton of weight playing Wii every day. His wife is also on a program and is starting to lose some weight.

Here's to staying healthy and playing with your kids.

Stallion habit 86 - Learn a language

I am glad I took two years of my life to serve a mission for my church. One of the side benefits was I learned Spanish while serving down in Peru.

When I graduated from ISU in 1991, we were at the height of a recession and most businesses weren't hiring.

I was able to get a job with the government speaking Spanish. I also was able to clep about 16 credits in college and get a minor in Spanish.

I use Spanish almost every day of my life, and we try to go to Mexico at least once a year on vacation. That comes in very handy.

I keep up on it by talking in Spanish and of course watching Spanish television.

So learn a new language today.

Stallion habit 85 - Get involved with music

When I was growing up my parents made me play the piano for a penny a minute. At the time, I thought it was hard to do, but I did this until the time I was about 14.

I was good enough to play for my local church and also play the piano for some musical numbers.

When I went into high school, my parents made me take choir and made me try out for swing choir.

This was great training as I learned to read parts and perform before people. I wouldn't have done either if my parents hadn't forced me to do it.

I am also trying to get my kids to learn to play the piano. What a struggle. I finally decided that they can't play video games unless they have practiced.

There are all kinds of ways to get your kids involved in music.

Stallion habit 84 - Do some manual labor

One of my favorite jobs of all time was stocking the freezers at Sam's Club. I quit the job because I found things that made me more money, but I miss the manual labor.

The other day, I was able to pound the cement out of a basement so I could put in a pump.

It was extremely hard work, and I was sweating big time.

However, when I was done, I thought it was a great experience.

I got a workout, and I saved some money. When you get to be a bigger investor though, you will want to hire this work done, and use your time in doing a deal to maximize your return.

Some of these homes need a little bit of work, but it is amazing the return you can get by just cleaning up the yard, and home. Cleaning is huge!

All these things raise the value in the eyes of the person who will buy the home, and you can sell it for a higher price.

If the home smells like animal urine, and is dirty, just plan on having customer after customer turn up their nose at the opportunity.

I had to laugh once because one of my real estate instructors down at the Nouveau Riche University said the smell of animal urine is the smell of money.

What he meant was that you could get a better price and in turn solve the "urine" problem to make more money when you flip it.

I look forward to working with you.

Stallion habit 83 - Don't be bored

My kids come up to me all the time and say, "I'm bored, what is there to do?"

I haven't really thought very much about it until today.

I was talking with a lady who said that her life was going OK, but she was always bored, so she started doing drugs.

You could see the change in how she performed at work as soon as she started doing them.

She was a stable and steady worker before she started doing drugs. Then after she started doing drugs, for some reason she just couldn't hold a job.

We are only bored if we let ourselves be. We need to find creative and productive things to do with our minds.

Or does a lifetime of addiction sound appealing to you? I hope you choose not to be bored.

Stallion Habit 82 - Work your abs

Have you ever noticed how many ab commercials there are and how many products that are for sell to get those abs?

It seems like the abs are one of the most promoted body parts around.

One exercise I don't mind doing is hanging my feet off the bed and doing leg lift crunches.

If you do about 50 of these, you will definitely feel the burn. I try to do as many sets as I can until I'm tired.

This one exercise can take inches off your waist so you aren't having to buy new pants all the time.

I discovered it after I had popped the second button off my pants in one week for being too fat through the mid-section.

It seems like if your core is stronger, your total health is better. Stronger abs mean a stronger back.

Also, check out some of the ab books below.

Stallion habit 81 - Bored with work? Make it a game..

Have you ever been so swamped that you didn't know how you would ever catch up?

When work becomes this way, sometimes I actually make it a game.

One game I play quite frequently is that I have to get 50 things done before I quit work or I lose the game.

You can reward yourself if you accomplish your goal, or punish yourself if you don't quite get it done.

Set realistic goals, but push yourself to achieve the achievable.

At the end of the day, you will wonder how you were able to get so many things off your desk.

You do it by working on one thing at a time, and then focusing on the next thing. There really is no secret.

Stallion habit 80 - Eat Sunday dinners with family

One of the traditions that I absolutely love is eating Sunday dinners with family.

Usually we go over to my parents' home, and they have really spoiled us since 1991 when we first started eating Sunday dinners with them.

It is a great time to catch up and talk about what is going on in our lives.

Sometimes we go visit my wife's family, but they live a little farther away, so it is mostly my parents.

Sundays really need to be spent with family.

Stallion habit 79 - A better food pyramid- Eat less, Fatso!

When I first saw this food pyramid, I thought this was so funny.

You look at the pyramid and you are supposed to eat 6 to 10 grains, etc. Then everyone wonders why they are getting fat.

I think the truth is, you need to eat healthy, and you really don't need as much food as you think you do.

Some people count calories. I personally try and eat smaller meals. If you are gaining in body fat, you probably need to cut your food intake and increase your activity.

There is a lot of wisdom in the phrase, "Eat less, Fatso!"

Stallion habit 78 - Drink high quality protein

One habit I do almost daily is drink a high quality protein drink.

This helps me feel full and satisfied for hours.

Protein is what feeds the muscles.

Whey protein is the best protein you can drink.

I have several co-workers who are always snacking on sugar and are always hungry.

Proteins helps take the edge off and won't cause your blood sugar to spike, thus producing insulin, which is a fat storage hormone.

Find a protein drink you like. I usually mix mine with milk.

Stallion habit 77 - Create it in your mind first

The hardest thing about any deal is creating it in your mind first.

I remember looking for my own home. I had already bought two homes before, but neither were what I really wanted.

We wanted to stay in a certain price range.

I wanted at least 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, especially since the home we were living in only had one bathroom.

My wife wanted 2 acres and the basement finished.

We also had a general idea of how we wanted the home laid out. I wanted a ranch home since I decided that not only are they cheaper using the cost per square foot analysis, but that it seemed they just flat-out used their space better.

We looked for two years and nothing.

Then one day I was messing around in a different price range, and I found it!

My wife thought that we shouldn't buy it because we were in a price range that we couldn't really afford.

After lots of thought, I figured out how we could afford it, and made an offer that was full price.

Many people don't realize this, but even though my house payment is $2000, I basically live here for free since my trailer park income makes the payment for me.

I used an asset to buy a liability. I use the definition of liability as something that takes your money. Most people would call a home an asset.

"Rich Dad's" definition of an asset is something that pays you.

My belief is that you have to live somewhere, so you might as well own and build wealth by building equity and appreciation in your property.

I offered full price because I really wanted the home, and I didn't want to take the chance that we would spend another two years looking for our perfect home.

I would love to help you find your next home.

Burke Bennett

Stallion habit 76 - Embrace Technology

One of the things that is constantly changing is technology. I read an article back in high school that said, "Someday we will call people instead of places. I thought to myself, "That will never work."

Boy, was I wrong. Cell phones are one of the biggest changes that have totally reshaped the way we do almost everything.

When I was watching the "Jetson's" as a kid, I always thought the video phones were cool.

Although almost no one has heard of them today, the technology is here now and is going to be as big, or bigger, as the cell phone.

What a great way to keep in touch with loved ones. Especially you traveling salespeople.

Check it out today!

Stallion habit 75 - Eat Power foods

Learning to love the power foods is important for good health. I myself, wish chocolate oatmeal cookies were one of them, but they're not.

I am talking about broccoli, grape juice, apples, or pretty much any type of produce.

One thing I keep getting e-mails about is the Pure Acai Berry. They say this is the new power food. It has even been on Oprah.

Has anyone tried this yet and had good results?

Stallion habit 74 - Go camping with your family

My four-year-old always asks, "When are we going camping?"

Kids love camping. In S. E. Idaho, there are a multitude of places to camp.

Sometimes we camp at Twin Bridges over by Ririe, which is 20 minutes away. Sometimes we drive up to Palisades. It is very pretty up there.

A lot of the bigger spenders go to Island Park. Just about any direction you go, there is a pretty decent place to camp.

There are still quite a few free places left if you know where to go.

Take time to spend time with your kids while they are little.

Stallion habit 73 - Stay active in the colder months

Every year in S. E. Idaho it gets really cold. This is when I am at my worst when it comes to weight gain.

It is easy to stay inside and eat lots of treats as it seems that we have tons of holidays and plenty to watch on TV.

In fact, Christmas day I weighed myself and thought--something has to change! In the last 10 months I have lost 30 lbs, but now that we are getting into the colder weather, I find myself wanting to slip into the same eating patterns that helped me pack it on, and of course, sitting and watching TV or playing on the computer.

It is important to take mini-exercise breaks--to bundle up and get outside and do something.

In S. E. Idaho there are many places to cross-country ski, snow ski/board, and get out and do stuff.

This winter, set a goal not to pack it on. Watch your weight and be active.

Stallion habit no 72 - Don't worry about things you can't change

2008 has surely been the year of worry. People are saying that we haven't seen such bad of financial times since the Great Depression.

Many people have watched their 401k's drop by up to half. People are driving less, spending less, and foreclosures are at an all time high.

You could let the cloud of bad news just get you down, but, my friends, this is an election year.

Are things really as bad as the news would like you to believe? Don't worry about the things you can't change. What are the good things in your life? Have you noticed if you turn off the news how normal things seem to be?

We need to enjoy life and only change what we can change.

Stallion habit 71 - Pay off debt

In October of 2008, the U.S. has gone through quite a few problems financially.

How did we let ourselves get into this mess?

One thing I have noticed is that banks are getting pickier about whom they will lend money to.

I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing.

Being maxed out all the time financially is just flat out hard on your Psyche.

It's hard on your marriage, kids, and your ability to do anything.

Getting completely out of debt is the fourth leg of retirement they never talk about.

Can you imagine not having a house payment, car payment, or credit card payment?

That is when true freedom really begins.

Stallion habit 70 - Be funny

Have you ever worked with someone who was funny?

I am not talking about crude, or rude, but someone with good, clean humor?

It seems like the work day goes faster when you have people around you who lift you up with a light moment or two, not to mention the huge stress relief when it happens.

Can you laugh at yourself when something goes wrong?

People who laugh more have a more fullfilling life and reduce the stress on
their hearts.

When was the last night you really laughed?

Stallion habit 69 - Work on a plan B

Watching the news lately has been kind of depressing. We have seen one of the worst economic slides in the history of the world.

I always feel sad when I see some guy who has worked in a factory for 30 years lose his job or lose his whole life's savings because his company went broke.

How about all the people who lose their home because they don't have a plan B?

I have always thought you should have a plan B.

What would you do if you lost your current job? What type of training do you put yourself through daily in case every thing falls apart?

What types of passive income opportunities can you create?

Thanks,

Burke Bennett

Stallion habit 68 - Change one thing

What is it about you that you need to change?

I think if everyone were asked this, they could think of something immediately.

What if you changed whatever you struggle with for the better--permanently?

How would other people view you?

What would your family and friends say?

Can you make your life better by changing one thing today?

Thanks,

Stallion habit 67 - Do a good turn daily

The other day I was walking down the street and saw an older lady trying to haul a couch out of a home with her son. You could see she was struggling and about to ruin her back.

I hurried over there and gave her a hand. I quickly grabbed one side of the couch, and we put it into the back of a pickup.

I was surprised by the burst of satisfaction by doing this one simple act.

What a different world we would live in if everyone did at least one good turn daily.

Thanks,

Burke Bennett

Stallion habit 66 - Help your brother

One of my brothers is a lawyer. As of October 2008, the economy has been the worst it's been in probably 100 years. The stock market has tanked to levels not seen since 2003.

I called my brother, not realizing that he had just lost his job.

Although my brother would never ask for help, sometimes you need to see the need and use whatever connections you have.

I have made a few phone calls, and am actively networking to try and get him a better paying "real" job.

Seeing someone in need and actually being successful in helping them can be one of the best feelings in the world.

Stallion habit 65 - Enjoy your children

Children are amazing. Have you ever watched a two year old laugh and play and tease?

How about watching them play sports or watch them in a school play?

I have seven children. The oldest as of 10/11/08 is 14, and the youngest is 2. They are all 2 years apart. I have 5 boys and 2 girls.

My boys are involved in baseball, basketball, football, scouts, piano, band and quite a few other things.

My girls are involved in volleyball and tennis. One is going to start to learn the piano real soon.

Time seems to fly by and soon they will be gone. So enjoy your children!

Stallion habit 64 - Get involved in your community

I am sure most communities are like the one I live in. I live in Ucon Idaho which is a smaller town. Every year the people here have a project in the spring and one in the fall to make this community better.

Today we are actually going to plant trees. My wife and I are in charge and usually round up a bunch of scouts or other volunteers to help us.

My wife gets involved with lamb raising and 4-H. I have been involved with Scouts for quite a while, and one of my sonshas his Eagle Scout already.

I guess the good thing about planting trees is that every time you drive by them, you can think about the service you gave that day to make your community better.

Stallion habit 63 - I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me

What do you do to get you mind off the daily grind?

Sometimes I like to just take off and go watch a movie.

I like the movies that get me emotionally involved.

If I like the movie, the phrase that pops through my head is, "I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me."

If you can find a movie with those qualities, I guarantee you will forget about the cares of the world.

Sluff occasionally whatever you are doing and watch a good movie.

Stallion habit 62- Cut the flow of trash

Have you ever had a thought pop into your mind that was inappropriate?

I am sure everyone has.

You can control though how many thoughts pop into your head by cutting the flow of trash into your mind.

What do you put into your mind that gives you less than optimal thinking?
As the saying goes, garbage in= garbage out.
